Good to hear. When I first was asking about Linux (in a different forum) a couple of people told me I wouldn't be able to learn it. I'm glad I didn't listen to them.

I'm glad you didn't either, you've already learned quite a bit! :)

I was out that way a couple of years ago. Visited Portland. But my fav was Cape Disappointment (just north of Portland in Washington). What a great name! And the waves! Breathtaking. I really liked it out there. Cool people. Not snooty at all. (And drivers stop at crosswalks! (I almost killed someone when I first got there! We don't do that in Illinois.) Courtesy--what a concept! But yeah, the rain. But when it was nice, it was PERFECT!

I wonder what time of the year you were here. In the summertime (July and August mostly,) it can get hot (for us) with no rain at all.

I was there in May. You still had the occasional clock-wise (or counter-clockwise, I can't remember which) storm ease in off the ocean, giving the rain/shine/rain cycle. But then there were some four or five day stretches that were magnificent.

Ha ha, ardvark. Me and my friend were walking around one day out there that I thought was BEAUTIFUL. Sunny. Low 80s. Just ideal. Well, one of my friend's neighbors was doing some gardening and she straightened up and said to my friend: "Do you believe this heat!"

I was like, heat? LOL But hey, everything is relative.

No, not everything... ;)

That reminds me when I went back to Delaware as a college exchange student (to the University of Delaware in Newark.) I drove my S-10 pickup all the way back there (in September,) fortunately I had air conditioning. That was an interesting 5 day road trip. But I remember when I arrived where my dorm room was and got out, it felt like I immediately stepped into an oven! The heat and humidity was absolutely incredible. Here in Oregon, you don't experience humidity like that. :D
