Is it possible to install Slackware into USB flash?
I'm trying to install Slackware into my 32GB USB stick
Of course, I could install live distros such as Slax,SlackoPuppy... But I want to install pure Slackware rather than other distros I installed Slackware into USB exactly in the same way when I installed on hard disk before I also set partitions of the USB supposing it as a hard disk Name Flags Part Type FS Type ... sdi1 boot Primary Linux sdi2 Logical Linux Swap After I installed packages I installed LILO on the MBR But when I boot It says Kernel Panic I also tried installing LILO on the Root,It failed too I'm wondering why it fails. |
Hi:
To make a bootable USB-stick, you must mount Slackware DVD in your system before run the script. You must be sure that you known exactly the name of USB disk connected to your PC: the script can format the disk, so all data in target device will be lost. Here's the link to the tutorial- http://www.zoros.org/wiki/index.php?...y_Linux_system http://alien.slackbook.org/dokuwiki/...ckware:usbboot I had trouble getting LILO to work-- The Slackware Forum might help too- https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/slackware-14/ |
