is it possible to boot from an .iso image...

Hi all,

if it were possible to boot a OS in the HDD through a bootloader,to boot through a removable media if it is bootable then it shud be possible to boot from an .iso image of a cd that was bootable as it is a valid iso9* filesystem i.e read-only on the hard disk..

i know it is certain we can but donn know the way ....

i use GRUB boot loader for a dual boot with FC5 and XP firstly i thought editing grub.conf by adding another boot entry n giving it the path to this .iso file might do this (i.e boot it from that image) but later didn't dare to do so as i thought my experience in UNIX is little to do such a big experiment... (it definitely is big for me !!!!!)

anyway , any suggestion is greatly appreciated...

I have no idea how to do this, but I fell on this site recently about how to install Linux without any removable device:
http://marc.herbert.free.fr/linux/win2linstall.html

I hope it helps you.
