Is it ok to do this?

I recently added 2 repositories to YUM, fedors-extra and livna-stable. BEFORE I added them YUM update said all is current. AFTER I added them I get this:

Quote:

=============================================================================
Package Arch Version Repository Size
=============================================================================
Installing:
apmud ppc 1.0.0-4.fc5 fedora-extras 54 k
replacing pmud.ppc 0.10-3.ydl.41.7

Updating:
dia ppc 1:0.95-8.fc5 fedora-extras 5.4 M
graphviz ppc 2.8-4.fc5 fedora-extras 1.5 M
taglib ppc 1.4-2.fc5 fedora-extras 135 k

Transaction Summary
=============================================================================
Install 1 Package(s)
Update 3 Package(s)
Remove 0 Package(s)
Total download size: 7.0 M
Is it ok to do this since the install & updates are not from the YDL repositories?

It might be ok to update the system, but if the system not broke why fix it

To keep everything current I suppose. I guess my question is really: Is it ok to update my YDL software from the Fedora repository?

In the motorcycle repair business (many moons past) we had a saying: "If it works, it's OK"

The only real issue is that when you come back with a question on why something doesn't work, you're likely to get the profound advice that you should use the repositories for your distro.
