Where is this coming from? First, I think you mean proprietary---ie not open-source.
In any operating system--with any SW--you only have to follow the terms of the license.
LOTS of Linux distros include proprietary components and there is nothing wrong with that unless you are a purist. Most of us just want our system to work.
