Is Git or SVN stable or testing projects?

Is it safe to use git or svn packages if a package is not available in the repos? Are git and svn stable or testing projects?

Both are stable projects. git is used to support the development of the Linux kernel and a number of other projects.

But defining "safe" is much harder to do. Packages can be created with both that are not "safe"...

The question is "Who do you trust?"

both git and svn are for source code
Not for managing rpm's or deb's

you would need to build the software from whatever location you use
or from your own svn or git server or github account
