Is Firefox browser worth it?
1 Attachment(s)
I use the Firefox browser on both of my computers. I like that it syncs. Generally speaking it works fine. But every so often something doesn't work and invariably when I switch to the Chrome browser it does work.
Things like doing esignatures and certain videos not playing (like trying to animate the National Weather Service radar). And lately Firefox has been opening new windows (instead of tabs) when I click on links. I'm not a big fan of Google spying on me so I hesitate to use its Chrome browser, but if it works better than Firefox? |
Just for info, I browsed to the US National Weather Service radar page using Firefox (47.0+linuxmint1+rosa / amd64) and the GIF appears to work fine. I can see no difference to what I see there than what I see using Chrome.
On the other point, do you have Edit->Preferences->General->Open new windows in a new tab instead checked? Edit: I didn't realise that you'd also raised these problems in separate threads. I have now answered to both. |

Use whatever works!
Man, You're like the Anti-Christ of Linux.
Does anything work over there? Still on Ubuntu 16.xyz with busted Radeon? |
Google will definitely spy on you. (see my signature)
That's why I use firefox + duckduckgo. |

I suggest that you give Opera a try.

This works on Debian stable too, though you have to get the browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash from backports repo. For Debian: https://wiki.debian.org/PepperFlashP...8_.22Jessie.22 |

I give you an A for Affort. ;) You certainly are tenacious. Was http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2016/03/u...x-driver-16-04 a factor at all in your recent "adventure" into 16.04? |

I'm sorry I dont use any of the Ubuntu's, but I know they have a GUI software manager. Go in there and search for browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash. Alternatively, you can search for that package by doing: Code:
erik@myserver:~$ sudo apt-cache search browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash |

I know that a lot of people though have had problems with the upgrade to 16.04. A lot. |

Hi Gregg,
Sorry, I'm not really sure. I didnt get any warning like that when I installed. Though, mine is on Debian and done through the cli. If it was me, I'd just continue with the install. But maybe someone here can answer the question better. |

So yeah, anyway, that Shockwawve Flash is missing in this computer. And LOL I don't know if I need to find that Shockwave Flash that the other computer has or maybe get your pepper flash. Thanks. |
I forgot, yes.
|
I just searched synaptic for freshplayer. I picked the plugin, installed it, and it worked without any further action. But you must have chrome browser installed, because that's where the plugin actually comes from. There is no standalone pepperflash-plugin.
