Is a symlink suppose to blink?

Made a symlink for java plugin, it's at /usr/lib/netscape/plugin. It is blinking , is that good? if it 's not how can i remove it? Can i just access the java plugin through the konqueror pref. box?

I know, lots of dumb questions! but thank you in advance :newbie:

No, that's how they look, symlinks have their color, cyan :)

If you ever want to delete a symlink, do it the same way you delete an ordinary file.

If the symlink is RED and flashing, that usually indicates that either the link is broken or it is pointing back to itself.

you sure??? normally a hard link or a symlink only blinks when the link has been broken??...I'm not sure as to the java plug in though... just a though.

Yep. I even just tried it. You have to force the second symlink, as linux will complain otherwise. But a symlink will indeed flash red if the other link is pointing back to it. Either way it's broken if you think about it.

I would just delete the link, verify the location of the file and try remaking it.

Yup! it's blinking red, i guess it's broke.

Thanks for the help!
