Is 127.0.0.1 behind the firewall?

Hi,

I don't fully understand what the loopback address is but I know that it is associated with my computer. I installed FC2 with the stock firewall and I wonder if a program can be blocked by the "local" firewall when trying to connect to by TCP to another program on the same computer.

(In my case I'm trying to connect pgadmin to postgresql by TCP where everything is on my local computer.)

Thanks!

I guess the answer is yes, I was able to connect after changing some settings to postgresql.

127.0.0.1 is your computer, so it *better* be behind the firewall. ;)

you could try putting off the firewall, and see if it works then.

else: what errors do you get when trying to connect.?
