Hi, welcome to LQ!

Funnily enough it's part of the IrfanView FAQ.

Cheers,
Tink

Put it under ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32. Be aware that you have to install wine first and run winecfg.

Just wanted to say that there are many open source image viewers and editors for Linux that may do what you want.

Alternatives

Yes I am currently trying Gimp. I guess I have been using Irfanview for so long now I have become very familiarized with it.
Ultimately I plan to use Linux exclusively,it is just a matter of time till then I am dual booting.
regards Dave.

As a viewer Gimp is overkill; have you looked at something like geeqie?

Not quite the same as irfanview, but very functional.
