ipcop, is it any good?
 
I am looking to use an old desktop (p2) as a server for a basic home network. is ipcop any good? i am not as yet on broadband.

please advise me of any allternatives (have suse 8.2 already)

IPcop is more of a router/firewall than a server. I have used it at home and in one of our offices. So far I've had no problems with it, either with static or dynamic ip's, on broadband and dial-up.
