Ah, then it makes sense.

Only one question remains then - why I have to add myself as a default gateway before adding my ISP's gateway. Let me know if you figure it out sometime.

I will surely let you know if I figure out anything further on that! Though, as you can imagine, there are LOTS of folks here on LQ who have LOTS of experience and knowledge in this area, certainly more than I, and I suspect that sooner or later some of them will chip in here too

Meanwhile, as long as it *works* and you get connected, don't fret over it! Maybe add some lines to your script to take care of adding & removing the address as necessary/desired, if you haven't yet done so.

I have enjoyed this too -- it's been a brain exercise for sure especially sorting out all the embedded [quote]'s in our posts
