iostat question


Hi,

It looks like my disk i/o is slow. Here is the output from iostat, is it good?

Is iostat reliable enough ?

You may also want to check out bonnie++ which will provide you with a number of disk and io performance tests.

iostat shows stats from what is currently happening with the I/O subsystem. If you have no load, there is not much to measure.

Use a benchmarking program like bonnie, as andymalato indicated. It places an synthetic load on the system and benchmarks during that load.

Try formatting your ouput (above) by surrounding fixed-width output with [ code ] [ / code ] (without the spaces) so that columns line up.
