internet works very slow in my linux box?

hi all i am using dual operating system in hp compaq desktop. I did a minimum installation for linux and using opera 10.10 and mozilla firefox 1.5.0.12 ( i couldn't update ) While i am using both the browsers simultaneously, the cpu consumption goes abnormally high ( 96.X %) and it works very slow. But in windows, if i do the same, it works fine. I tried to update mozilla, but i failed. Anyway i need mozilla due to some font issues( i need to view tamil fonts). Can someone guide to get it solved?

Most likely candidate for slow & high CPU is flash? Or does this occur on
any website you visit?

mesiol:

I am using rhel 5.0

Tinkster:

If i open opera and mozilla it works fine. The moment any popup window or one more mozilla window (not tab) started opening, it starts slow responsing. And i think there is no problem while opening any particular websites.

The output truncated from the output cat /proc/cpuinfo |grep Intel is
model name : Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz

The memory details:

[root@kingston ~]# free
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 506644 442956 63688 0 15532 160776
-/+ buffers/cache: 266648 239996
Swap: 1052216 96916 955300

hi...is anyone is there to suggest something regarding this thread...my system consumes more cpu and memory while i am using two browsers (opera & firefox) simultaneously. Is there any way to control the cpu utilization?
