Hello, i'm new to linux so i figured newbie was the best place for this post
anyways, i installed Debian 3.0 because it was so simple to install ( http://www.osnews.com/story.php?news_id=2016
), however upon installing it i found that when i shutdown -h now, the computer did not actually shut down, so i decided a kernel recompile was necessary. everything was fine after recompile, sound worked great, computer powered down when i asked it too, and all was great. until i tried the internet. i have re-compiled the kernel several times, and i can never get internet to work. i use telus adsl internet, dhcp and all that. i installed etherconf and ran that, but still no go. i have an onboard sis network card and a cheapo realtek clone deal ( i'd post an lsmod or whatever that is, but i am at work right now, not at home)
ecs k7s5a mobo (onboard sound and lan)
anyone have any ideas as to what i need to do to have internet work? if i need to post any more info, let me know and i'll get it on here.
