Question Internet: KDE okay; GNOME slow

Hello,

Okay, was using Slackware 8.1 and KDE 3.0 for a while with no Internet problems - and it seemed to download things far quicker than my Windows 98...

I then switched to Slackware 9 and KDE 3.1 which also seemed to work alright... but then I felt inclined to switch to GNOME (which I like now), but I can't get any faster than 10 K/s... So, I'm a little confused.

My Windows 98 (it's a dual boot machine) will download at around 30 K/s... and my old Slackware 8.1 with KDE 3.0 would often download in the 100 K/s range...

Anyway, I'll probably need to give you more information, but I though maybe it was some really simple thing that I should have figured out by now.

Oh... I did check my ifconfig, and everything seems alright... the MTU is set for 16436...

Thanks...
