Internet is soundless

OKay so i have ubuntu 8.4 and i can not get my internet sound to work. my sound works when i am notified on pigeon i have a message. and my sound to play music works but no sound works on websites. can someone please help me i am such a noob and i have been missing out on youtube for a week.

No answer for 25 minutes hardly consititutes not getting any help.

What type of flash have you installed? Iff I understand you correctly you don't have any sound when playing flash (e.g. youtube) but sound works fine otherwise?

EDIT:

If you have flashplugin-nonfree installed already, you can try this

It could also be that your other apps are holding the sound device hostage. Try closing pigeon and your music player before opening your browser.
