Internet Help!!!!!!!!!

I just installed Linux and my ineternet does not work..............does anyone know how to get my internet working? I have a cable modem

oh boy, more details, do you have a router, do you ue a network card for access, we need this info, do you have to start the cable modem from the computer or is it always connected?

Its always connected, i have a netgear router, i use my onboard network card,

Show us what ifconfig displays... If u're using a distro which hides/renames this command (RedHat?) then run that instead.

You might need to type the full path eg. /sbin/ifconfig

Do u use static IP or DHCP? And did u configure your network to use this protocol?

type dhcpcd -t 10 eth0 and see if that fixes it, if not do:
dmesg | grep eth
if that has no output then you network card does not identify on boot, tell us which it is

actually its saying no etho link detected but the cable is in the computer
