internet crashes on certain sites

Can someone help please as this is driving me mad!!

On certain web sites, notably the BBC site, my internet crashes when I move from one page to another.

No warning, no message, it just crashes!!

Can anyone help me by explaining problem, and hopefully solution.

Many thanks

Hi there! Welcome to LQ.

What exactly do you mean - surely the internet itself is not crashing - maybe you mean your "internet browser" is crashing? What browser do you use? And is this on Fedora? If so (or if not) please tell us what Linux OS and version you're using.

Could also be a problem with your FLASH plugin. Any idea which one you're using?

Maybe if you start the browser from a command line (from a console) , you can see any messages that might be generated when it crashes, giving a clue about what's going wrong.

So anyhow, please provide us some more input so someone can maybe figure out what the problem is. Also tell us what kind of internet connection you have (wireless, cable, etc..) and what wireless NIC you have (make & model of your network device).

Thanks for quick response but be gentle, I am not a techie!!

My connection is wireless - firefox is my OS.

This is a new problem - never a problem previously, just started a few weeks ago.

When I say it crashes, I mean it just crashes out of the internet and back to my desktop.

Hope you can help.

If you're using Firefox then type
Code:

about:plugins
in the navigation bar (where the www.blahblah.co.uk goes). Look for Shockwave Flash and tell us what version you're using. Also what version of Firefox are you using?

Perhaps a similar problem...

On an openSUSE 11.2 installation I have the problem that, when listening to the BBC audio and at the same time browsing internet pages, the BBC flash player often crashes. In my case there is a Shockwave Flash plugin in Firefox that makes using flash possible, and although it is inconvenient, I haven't taken the trouble to find out if the problem is the BBC flash player, the plugin, the combination as used in SUSE 11.2, or something quite different.

It may be that something similar is happening in your case and taking Firefox down with it.
