Internet Connectivity in Linux
 

Hi friends i want to know that can i use my mobile to connect to internet in Linux. Everytime i need to connect to internet i have to open Windows. I have sony ericssion K510i. i tried to search for pc suite of sony linux but i can't find out.

Your profile lists your distribution as SUSE. In openSUSE 10.3, open YaST (K Menu --> Computer --> Administrator Settings). Enter your root password. Select Network Devices --> Network Card. After scanning your system, the network setup screen will present you with the network settings it found. If they were all found, you can continue with the next paragraph. If they were not found, you may have one or more devices in this format:

Name IP Address
Ethernet Network Card Not configured

If you highlight the card, it will give you more information in the area below. For example:

Ethernet Network Card (not connected)
BusID : 0000:05.02.0
Unable to configure the network card because the kernel device is not present.

With the device selected, click the Configure button. The Network Card Setup screen has three tabs. Chances are that you will not need to change anything on any of them. Look them over, and if everything appears OK, click Next.

If you are configuring a wireless card, you are then taken to the Wireless Network Card Configuration screen where you enter the wireless set up information such as ESSID, encryption type and passphrase. Enter that and click Finish when done. You may need to restart your network. The easiest way to do this is to restart the computer. I hope that helps.

i think u didnt understand my problem..
i use my mobile to connect to interenet...
mobile has its own modem driver..in windows i have pc suite to connect to internet....
how can i coonnect by configuring network card.......

anyone can give me the solution...

i got the way to detect my modem of my mobile myself..........
now i can't find out the dialer sort of thing as in windows to connect to internet...
can anyone helpme.
