Talking Internet Connection Problems

Slackware 13.37, KDE.

Ok, I've got a funny internet set up.

I connect my windows XP laptop to my Droid through wireless tether.

I connect my windows laptop to my linux desktop through an ethernet cable.

I then set up a network bridge in windows to connect my desktop to the internet.

Before you ask, I do this because I don't want to buy a wireless card and don't want to pay for other internet when I have my 4g phone. I'm a cheapass.

Anyway, this was working fine last night.

This evening, however, I booted up and had lost both sound and internet.

I reinstalled Slackware and got my sound back, but I still have no internet.

ifconfig is not reporting an ip address.

lspci is reporting that my network card is found.

dhcpd is reporting "Not configured to listen on any interfaces!"

I'm still very new at Linux, so please be detailed in any directions you give me. A friend told me to type in those previous commands.

I'd have been inclined to check that it functioned at a later date as the problem could have been with the ISP (or does your phone still work? You hadn't hit a data threshold with the ISP, had you? Does your Windows PC still work with the tether? Did you power everything on in the same order as when it worked?
You haven't mentioned any of these things. If your car doesn't work, it's easier to check for lack of fuel before stripping your engine!

Play Bonny!

Got it. Yeah, my internet was hooked up and running. In installation I didn't set up the network so it didn't know to use DHCP. I had to reinstall it to realize that and get it to work.

Thanks for the help though.
