Internet Connection - Newbie!
Hi Guys,
Have been having hassles with installing Freevo at home on a redhat 9 installation but that's another story. Anyway, I had to keep booting into XP to access my broadband connection because I can't figure out how to set dsl up in Gnome. I found internet settings, and it detects my broadband modem (USB) as Acatel modem for ISDN if I then say I want to set up a xDSL connection, when it asks to select modem, it doesn't appear in the list. Theres no choice for me to add a modem either. Has anyone else come across this or am i doing something wrong? PS I also use Tiscali broadband and notice the number it dials in windows XP is 0,38 - would this be the same in my linux install? Cheers! Luke |
i had the same problem when i started using redhat9/. i tried several times to set up xdsl connection with no success. i did ethernet(etho) and worked. are you using a router? go to gnome, internet connections, select etho, and follow the instructions. make sure that when you boot up when is bringing up etho connections you get an OK message.

You'll have to do some googling. There are lots of howto's on setting up the alcatel usb for broadband.
