Internet config
I just got mandrake 9.0 installed, but I can't figure out how to get my internet connection working. It worked when I installed 8.0, but I can't remember what i did to get it working.
I'm using DSL from Verizon. I have to use their modem attached to my internet card. Mandrake saw my card, but I don't know about the extra modem. Does anyone feel like helping me out? I'm really new at all this, but was at least able to follow directions well enough to get a dual boot system up... |
You should've set it up during install. After, you can still set it up but you have to log in as root and run Internet Config icon on the desktop, I think.
Basically, it's a wizard. Just say DSL and enter relevant numbers, username and password. |
Thanks for replying!
I did set it up during install, but I must not have done it right. It asked for ip numbers, and because I use Verizon there are ni Linux, so I was on my own. I went to another forum, I think it was Mandrakeusers. Someone there had asked a similar problem, and their solution was to type adsl-setup and follow the text. It worked! So I'm back in business. I think I was getting confused between network and internet. All I want is to connect to the internet. I'm not on a Lan, which is what the Wizard kept insisting. |
