Internet access issues using Mozilla & Fedora - configuration?
Newbie question for anyone that can help: I just loaded Fedora onto a Compaq desktop for the first time ever with no problems. Now trying to configure the machine for web access but Mozilla never resolves an address and always produces the standard error: "ALERT URL name could not be found. Please check the mane and try again." It happens immediately as if not even trying or having the network cable unplugged.
What I've done so far:
1. connected computer to LAN via standard working Ethernet cable
2. verified that the NIC works using loopback test (plus I know it works from the previous setup); green link light is on, yellow data activity light blinking
3. pinged the router successfully
4. entered required proxy server information (is a corporate LAN) in the Automatic Proxy Configuration correct field of Mozilla 1.4.1 preferences
5. verified that NIC is Active in the network connections, set to DHCP in the "Ethernet Device" area
Can anyone provide additional steps to try troubleshooting? I'm sure it's something simple that I don't know about as a newbie. Can't be that difficult to get online. Thanks....
