Intel 845 Chipset setting screen resolution

I have intel 845 chipset in mercury mother board
when i try to change the resolution in fedora core 3 it is not supporting
with 8bit color i am able to change it to 800x600
with 1000 of colors only 600x480 is supported
i understand that it may be a driver problem

Same thing happened with SUSE linux and REDHAT 7

but with windows XP i have the mother board cd which has all the drivers
for windows

hardware

intel celeron 1.7GHz

128 MB RAM

40 GB hard disk

your monitor frequencies probably aren't set correctly in X config. a google search shows that your card works straight out of the box.
if you need to know how to change your settings, just shout.

what you need to do is to change your HorizSync and your VertRefresh under "Section "Monitor"" in you /etc/X11/xorg.conf (or if you XFree86...).
Google will solve everything! ...well maybe not world peace but it'll probably help you
