Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I have vb installed in ubuntu 16.04 and a full retail copy of xp I just bought. It seems to load ok, but when I get to the end of eula and press f8 to install, I get kicked out of vb. Meaning I get returen to the home page. That am I doing wrong?
If your wondering why on earth I want xp, It has the drivers I need for my line6 ux2. As far as I know they are not available for linux.
if it doesn't load the driver on Ubuntu 16*, then try 12*.
supposedly the driver is already (at least used to) be there by default.
keep us posted.
PS: if you must use win xp, make sure you don't NAT that sucker through to the net. In fact, I would disable the nic altogether since getting one thing like a ransomware worm could really ruin your day.
I checked. no drivers and I'm not going on line with xp ever.
I checked out the web site. Thanks for that. I would never have found it. The problem is, I can't get past the eula. If I can't figure this out, I'll have to contact ms, which will probably be fruitless and at the end of the day, I will end up with a 50$ coaster and no drivers.
Installing XP, depending on the disk, is not a problem, even validation can be done with certain disks but where would you get your driver from, unless you had a saved copy?
I have a scanner that copies slides but only works with an XP driver but it is no longer available from the manufactures website, ho hum.
I am always amazed at how much you folks know and how little I do. For instance, uhhhh what the heck is a fn key? I thought they just put that on the keyboard to fill up an empty space. Anyway, that was the problem. I now have xp in vb! To hydrurga and all the folks who took the time to help me, thanks
