Installing WMV, AVI, RMVB, MP3, DVD.. support etc. Without internet
 

Okay so I have Linux Fedora Core 6 on my home computer now. I know how to get the support when having an internet conncection but my situation is that I do not have internet at home and I'm wondering if theres a way to get support for these types of files manually and install them off line. I'm currently at a library. Thanks for any info and taking the time to read.

Back in the late 90's the large computer retail stores had some distros. For example compusa in New York had red hat linux, mandrake, turbo linux, debian and some unix compatible OS like freebsd and openbsd.

Today is almost non-existent in computer retail stores to find a linux distro. The last distro I saw in compusa was xandros.

You either need to borrow a fedora core cd(s) from someone or get access to the internet from a family member or friend and download/burn the iso images.

Maybe you should look for a distro that ships with the multimedia packages you need. If you like Fedora, take a look at startcom which is a rebuild of RHEL. Also take a look at Linux Mint.
