Question Installing windowmaker from source

Well, i don't know if this is a newbie-question, but i think so, since i'm a newbie

So, i downloaded the windowmaker source file, i then exctracted it, and did
1. ./configure
2. make
3. make install
4. ldconfig

and then i ran wmaker.inst

Everything went smoothley....but where did it go?

I've been looking around for the "wmaker.desktop" or "whatever.desktop" , just to see if i could
find something that could be close enough

So, could someone please tell me how i can load it into the gdm?

I searched the forums and found something like that i had to go to /usr/share/xsessions, and put
*.desktop in there, but i can't find it, any clues on what i can do?

Thanks

-KK

what distro are you using? also check /usr/share/X11/xsessions then in there take on of the other DE config files and use it as a template for wmaker

Wmaker + distro

thanks for the quick reply

I'm using Ubuntu Linux 5.04, Hoary...

I'm also currently looking at the "gnome.desktop" file....using it as a template meaning that i have to change every "gnome" typing with "wmaker"/"windowmaker"?

Thanks

Why are you building wmaker from source? just open synaptic and install wmaker that way. It will simplify things for you. I put ubuntu on my sisters laptop and I know wmaker is in there. Otherwise, yes replace gnome with wmaker or windowmaker(I think the first line is the name which would be used for gdm so this would be windowmaker to make it readable for you the user).
