Installing win programs with wine

I have f10 and i installed wine with
yum install wine.
I try to test some win programs to be installed. The result:
total commander and foxit reader - the message was that the file cannot be found - despite the fact that for foxit reader, the interface of foxit was already open !!!
winrar was installed perfectly !

Does anybody experiment something similar ?

I will also try to install the msoffice suite (i need it because in my office sometimes some documents are worked by several persons and some features in openoffice are not 100 % valid in msoffice - the numbering, the format are sometimes mismatched when working "in common")

Thank you !

I have had great success with a program called wine-doors. It automatically downloads and installs windows applications such as photoshop, ie7 and office. They all work great for me

I saw WINE site yesterday and that got me thinking, could i use it to install my original voodoo3 3dfx drivers into any distro of linux that may have had previous graphical display problems, such as ubuntu's Hardy Heron which only likes to dsiplay in 640 x 480, no matter what.

Thanks for posting this WINE thread, or i wouldn't have made the connection.

Much appreciated

OK, I will try. I try until now only wine - simple, because I did not know that there are also other.
But all this versions of wine are compatible between them, or should I uninstall the previous wine ?

Everything you ever wanted to know about WINE.
This is an Ubuntu forum but Linux is Linux...

Wine-doors uses the usual wine you have installed already. wine-doors is simply a nice graphical and easy way to download and install/run windows apps. Check it out.

I prefer using virtualboxed Win though wine is good enough If you just want to install a couple of things.
