what's to know about it? 1) get installation media 2) boot to installation media 3) follow installer.

Are you having specific issues around this? What kind of things do you want to know?

You can read a detailed how-to at:

https://help.ubuntu.com/10.04/serverguide/C/index.html
or (depending on your version of Ubuntu Server)
https://help.ubuntu.com/11.10/serverguide/C/index.html

Here is some specific info for troubleshooting the problem with your CD-ROM:

or USB:

It appears you have windows 7, after downloading the iso, you have to select "burn image" if doing cd/dvd.

Hi, done that, but still cannot boot from the DVD. Is there a difference between CD iso and DVD iso?

Thanks

Did you read any of the troubleshooting info I linked to in Post #6, and if so, maybe you can give us more details to help you than "still cannot boot"?
