installing Ubuntu doesnt work

I have windows XP and Linux mandriva installed on my laptop
I now want to install linux Ubuntu on my pc replacing the Mandriva
I boot my pc from cd and ubuntu opens.
when Im in installation of Ubuntu 7.04 at step 4 out of 7, it asks about partitioning.
I select manual and then forward..
I select the partition that has linux mandriva on it and click forward
a prompt comes up saying..

No root file system is defined

Please correct this from the partitioning menu.

what am i supposed to do now?
if anyone can help that would be amazing!
thanx Amir
