Installing Ubuntu 7.10 + Mac4Lin + Compiz-Fusion on HP Compaq 6715b Notebook

THATS IT FOLKS enough dilly-dallying im going straight in for the kill...

Am getting UBUNTU 7.10 on my laptop tonite. XP going out, no dual boot no shooting from the hip....
straight install with full format. I just wanted to say i love you guys, in case we never meet again...

What scares me? I have read many gory tales about doing this on my HP Compaq notebook, because of ATI and AMD issues.

I just got a nice Dell Ubuntu laptop with no issues. I am getting ready to upgrade it to 8.04. It has the Linux friendly Intel wireless card. OTOH, if you have problems with your wireless card, the Ubuntu forums are actually helpful. Based on what I know, the wireless is the only place you will likely have issues.

I will actually write a Python script to organize and convert my music files from mp3 to ogg, then backup. Should be great fun and educational.
