Installing tls package

Hi, we need to install the tls package on our Linux server and we are using Redhat ES 4. We found this RPM (tcltls-1.5.0-11.fc6.i386.rpm) on the internet. Is this the right package? If not, please recommend the proper package. We also need to know the installation procedure. Many Thanks!

That package was made for FC6. FC6 is what RHel5.0 was based on. Running packages made for a different version is iffy at best. If you were running version 5.0 I would give it about a 50/50 chance of working. Being that package is a generation newer than your version I would give it about a 1/10 change of working.

You might try the Centos repository. Centos is RHel with the logos removed (binary compatible).

Thanks for the info.

So I need to download the Centos 5.1 i386 package, right?

I will highly appreciate that you will also let me know the command for installing the package. Thanks!

You should be able to use the Centos 4.0 repo on your current system, assuming the package you want is in there. There are instructions on how to setup RHel4.0 with yum is here:

You could also upgrade to Centos 5.1 if you wanted. You just download the ISO (DVD) or ISOs (Cd), burn them, boot to the CD/DVD and install. Just to be clear this would be a new OS and would replace the one you are currently using (backup everything first).
