Installing .tgz (Slackware packages) on other distros

Has anyone had any luck with installing Slackware packages on other distributions?

To my understanding, Slackware's .tgz packages are only the needed binary files and documents for a program with specific instructions where to place them. I'm considering moving to another distribution and I was wondering if there was any way to transfer my library of Slack packages along with me. Because of the packages' structure, I don't think this is an impossible task.

Not 100% sure but, I think you can get a converter. like tgz2deb or tgz2rpm. again Im not sure. I know that they are available to change rpms to tgzs.

Alien can convert Slackware packages to rpm, deb, but doing this is somewhat flaky. Each distro has its own method of putting binaries, docs, other stuff in certain places, which varies from distro to distro. You can also just move your tgz's to / and 'tar xfzv package_name.tgz'. This will place things in the 'right' place.

My question is why would you want to move away from Slackware?
