Installing SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 on RAID 10 Array
Hello,
I am new to Linux and attempted to install SUSE Linux Enterprise 10 Server on an Intel server with on-board RAID 10. Normally with Windows Server I would just F6 to load up the driver for the RAID and then create my partitions, selecting one partition to install the OS to. In Linux when I load the CD I am unable to create partitions and presented with options to create RAID arrays. I assume the RAID is controlled by the hardware since it is setup prior to OS installation. However, I am not sure this is the case with Linux. Do I need to create the RAID in Linux before I try to install it? Is there a way to inherit the RAID 10 from the hardware and just create partitions to install the software to? If I cannot inherit the RAID 10 configuration and have to create the RAID 10 in Linux, can I create partitions on the total space available from the RAID 10? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you, |
