Installing SuSe 9.1

Complete newb here , thanks in advance for reading (and ever so much more if responding :D ).

I got a bit confused with the ftp install of SuSe 9.1 . Booted from the ISO disk I made but had trouble setting up a network connection. My DSL Ip# changes everytime I connect so I couldn't enter an IP # that the install would accept.

Soooooo , seeing the option for installing from the HD as a source , I downloaded the whole 9.1 tree directory.

I have it on my C:/ drive (windows XP NTSF) and wanted to install SuSe 9.1 on my G:/ drive (Slave to C:/ NTSF empty).

1). Is this possible ?

2). If so could someone kindly give me a step by step on the proceedure.

*Taking into account , I cut my teeth on XP and Linux is a huge leap for me*

Thanks in advance,

Doug

1) load the driver for your network adapter
2) select network install
3) select ftp/http (which ever you want)
4) select to allow DHTP or whatever to find your IP automatically
5) type in the address ... i.e. ftp.suse.com
6) then type path to folder like this: /suse/i386/current

then you are good to go ... I just installed it a few nights ago with a modem that uses PPPoE also

Yea , tried that last night , all went well until the DHCP , came back with an error and couldn't go any further.

I found this thread over at the SuSe forum about doing the install from HD.
