installing rpm with rpmdrake
 

Hi, I have downloaded the driver to my /tmp directory, but now I don't know how to get
rpm drake to install it. I believe that LM 9.2 has the latest version of xfree86 (4.3.x) and that this driver would be supported. I don't know how to redirect rpmdrake to install the rpm from my /tmp. Also this rpms name is fglrx 4.3.0-3.7.6.rpm and when I installed mandrake I was able to choose what kind of video card I had and my selections were: -radeon -radeon(fglrx) -radeon(fbdev). It auto-selected the radeon(fglrx). but I tested it and it said error, I thought this was due to the video signal being directed to my monitor and tv at once, which is not the case. I also tested the radeon(fbdev) cause doesn't that stand for frame buffer device and my mobo has an intel 32MB frame buffer video output by default. It did give me no error when I tested, but I went with the auto-select. Should I be using (fbdev) or is just silly cause the agp slot overrides this.
Do I have to install this rpm or it already in the distro. Thanks to anyone who has patience to read this. I wish to learn linux and can devote some time to it, but it is ludicris for me to remove my ati card every time I boot to mandrake from winodws. Please help

Also on my system halt it said something about jpeg and stopping dm failed. Sorry for long post, but this is frustarting.

The included ATI drivers do not work for any Radeon above the 9200 (no, none of them. I've tried. I have a AIW 9800SE). You must choose VESA to get 2D display. You will not have 3D hardware acceleration or OpenGL support.

You are trying to install the closed-source ATI binary drivers to get these capabilities, which is a good idea (but get VESA working first, so you can see what you're doing ;) ).
