Installing Redhat 9 on Dell XPS

I have a 3 GHz Dell XPS with a SATA Maxtor 7Y250M0 250 GB HD. I would like to install Redhat 9 on it (i downloaded the 3 disc set from linuxiso.org so i'm not sure what kernel that is). However, when I get to the portion of the install that asks for the partitioning, it tells me no valid devices were found on which to install this system. i have installed fedora on this system before as well as mandrake with no problem. i do want to try redhat 9 though. what information more do i need to give? I don't know what to configure in the Dell Bios but I will be happy to provide any info I can. Thank you.

SATA hdd may well not be recognised by rh9 ....only as a scsi drive... there have been a few threads about this problem....unless u can enable ur system to load and boot from scsi in bios then u may well have a prob...I had considered getting a sata drive myself but have read quite a lot about them with linux and as I like rh9 am gonna stick with my hdd as it is.... so maybe if u just want to try it out as an os then use a cheapo hdd that u may have `hanging about`

okay i researched my specific hd model a little more from www.maxtor.com and apparently it is a PATA drive...so what else could be causing my problem? thanks for the earlier reply.
