installing pure-ftpd fail because can not find the packets...


I am trying to install pure-ftpd but my ubuntu 6.10 server tells me he can not find the packet pure-ftp.
please tell me how to install this package with every stages to do it.
thank you a lot.

It looks like pure-ftpd is available through the universe source list. You'll need to enable that by going to System -> Administration -> Software sources -> root password -> and then put a check next to Community maintained Open Source softwrae (universe). Close that window. If it asks you to reload, go ahead and do it. Just to be sure (never trust a gui completely) run sudo apt-get update from the command line. Then run sudo apt-get install pure-ftpd. It will give you a list of the packages it intends to install and you can then choose yes to install it.
