Installing pango, wireless networking

Two questions:

1) I just got an Acer TravelMate 242LMi (apparently only available in Canada) and am trying to set up the wireless adapter. All that Acer seems capable of telling me is that the adapter is called "InviLink". Does anyone know if it's compatible with any of the drivers that comes with RedHat 9?

2) In order to install gtkam I need gtk+, so I need pango (even though it seems to already be installed, but I can't find the pango.pc file). When I try to run the configure script I get the following error:

configure: error: *** Didn't find any of FreeType, X11, or Win32.
*** Must have at least one backend to build Pango.

Wha?!

Thanks for any help.

stryfe,
I downloaded the WinXP version of the network drivers for your notebook, and had a look at the .inf files. It would appear that its is a LAN-Express Module, that looks to be PRISM based. Now from my observation of this channel, PRISM is a *VERY* well supported chipset. I can't tell you if RH9 supports it out of the box, but if it doesn't you should be able to find drivers no problem!

Good luck getting it going!

Cheers
Jo

Well, I got the information about the card, and added it. The card shows up under the hardware tab as "configured", rather then "ok", as is the case with the ethernet adapter. When I try to add a wireless connection under the "Devices" tab, and it shows up as inactive. Whenever I try to activate it, I get the following message:

"Can not activate device eth1!

orinoco device eth1 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization."

Any hints?

It's my understanding that many of these wireless adapters need to be explicitly turned on, which might be why it "does not seem to be present." However I have no idea how to turn it on....
