installing packages in fedora 8

I want to install packages in fedora 8 with system-config-packages

I don't happen to have Fedora 8 here right now, but as far as I know, you can install packages by
- launching the graphical package manager tool from the menu and point-and-clicking your way
- running 'yum install packagename' from terminal
- downloading rpm files manually and double-clicking on them or running 'rpm -Uvh package.rpm' from terminal

That's about it.

I have an rpm file but i am unable to install it
because it gives me an
error: Failed dependencies

It should tell you which dependencies, install those first.

If you use yum to install the package it will install the dependencies for you.
