installing ose virtualbox

Tried to install and use VirtualBox with no sucess. Got the following message, '-1908 VERR VM DRIVER NOT ACCESSIBLE' . I have tried the solution for Ubuntu 7.10 regarding creating a group user for my user partition with no effect, possibly because it's on a different partition. I have tried to gather all the nesecary libraries etc, but no result. Tried to build it from a tar ball but it gets almost there on the configure phase and tells me to 'enjoy' but stalls on the 'make' section.
Prior to telling me to 'enjoy' it says:

cd ./out/linux.x86/release/bin/src
make

However, there appears to be no target despite updating src in the package handler in Suse, amoungst others. Any ideas?

Is your problem with installing VirtualBox itself, or are you having a problem installing Linux inside a VirtualBox? Also, are you installing Linux inside a VirtualBox running on Linux or some other OS?

Had similair problems..

Found I was trying to install two versions of Virtualbox ....I was doing the generic version then I tryed putting 26.3 on this way conflict.... As soon as I removed the 26.3 version all these problems went away...

I was thinking if I just add all the versions I will be covered on updates , but the system doesn't see it that way it doesn't keep the newest version and delete the older versions....

I'm an idiot .. I see on this site all the time running software with the kernel may conflict and may need to uninstall and go with different version.....

later good luck hope that helps...

virtualbox installation

My problem is running VirtualBox on a Linux system (Suze10.3/Mandriva8 and Debian etch). It installs but seemingly only partially and when it comes to run it it records the '-1908 VERR VM DRIVER NOT ACEESSIBLE' error. This despite upgreading the Kernel and installing the relative libraries. I have got a number of install instructions and none, as yet appear to work. As for conficts, mentioned in the previous reply, these should not exist if you have uninstalled a version of Vbox even if others exist in the home partition, if you specify which you want to install- any further ideas/comments?
