Installing Opera

Hi
I try to install Opera (as RPM). I try to use KPackage.
I have downloaded the rpm-file to /usr/src. If I doubbleclick the rpm-file, KPackage starts and I try to install Opera.
During install I get a report of a lot of missing lib-files. I can see the lib-files in the directory /lib.
Shall I move the rpm-file to another directory, or shall I tell KPackage where to find the lib-files? Or am I totaly lost here...

Run ldconfig from a command prompt first. Also, make sure that those libs actually DO match the libs that are supposedly "not" there. If it's looking for blahblah5.so.1 And you have blahblah4.so.1 Then you might wanna consider getting the "Static" version of Opera.

Another thing, you might wanna consider is installing the tar.gz version, it's a little smoother on some systems.

Cool

Thanks for your reply.

I thought the RPM-files where ready for installation, but it seems that they are not.

I guess that the tar.gz needs to be compiled on my system, but as you see, I´m a newbie...

If I need to compile it, how do I find out wich lib:s I need, and how do I install them?

Does anyone know any tutorial for installation of programs in Slackware 8.1?

I´m eager to learn this, soo I guess you gonna see alot of me here...
