Installing of Openoffice1.1.2
 

Hi,

I've successfully installed Openoffice1.1.2 and removed openoffice 1.0.2. However, I could not find the openoffice 1.1.2 in the KDE 3.1 main menu.

How could i　start the openoffice 1.1.2?
I am running Mandrake 9.1 and KDE3.1

you can most likely run it in terminal with the commands (at least you can with 1.1.1, I haven't bothered to update)

ooffice which is a spring board to anyone of the individual applications.

Go to terminal and type oo then press tab twice. A list of all the commands that start with oo appear. those should be the open office apps

If you don't want to run out of terminal, you have to keep the stupid thing open to do so, KDE shoulld have a command in the menu called "Run program" or something like that where you can just input those commands without the bother of a terminal window being open.

By the way, update your user profile to properly reflect your distro(s)

What should I do after typing oo ?

Anyway, is it possible to put it in the meau bar ?

You can put it in the quick launch bar by right clicking, selecting Launcher... and typing the launch commands where it says "Commands:"

You can also select an icon, etc. etc.

For me using Xandros 2.0, I can
add to the menu by clicking

(in KDE)
Launch -> Applications -> System -> Menu Editor

and adding the link of the executable. I don't know
how your distribution work.

Try to "find" you menu editor. If you have problem,
try the Control Center.

Another option is to use the file manger (like MS Window
"My Computer") and create an icon that link to the
executable.

One last thing, when you click on a Oo file in the file
manager, you want it to open up the new Oo. Go
to the control center and find the file association list.
Whenever it sees *.sxw and *.doc, have it clicks the
new Oo, not the old Oo.
