Installing NVIDIA drivers made packages break

Whenever I get into Synaptic, it warns me that there are 12 broken packages. When I check into it, all of them are missing xorg-x11-Mesa-libGL -- which I was told to remove after installing the NVIDIA drivers. I have checked and the listed programs still work, but whenever I try to use Synaptic to install something new, it tells me that some programs must be removed, and it gives me an incredibly long list and it looks to me like almost everything I have on the computer. What's up? And is there anyway I can fix this without messing up my NVIDIA drivers? Thanks!

I'm afraid I haven't a clue, but be sure to say something over at nVidia's site where the last time I was there they had made a lot of support commitment to Linux. That was a while ago, but it's still worth a look.

I'm still kicking myself for buying an ATI card.
