installing Nvidia drivers

Ok, I know that the Nvidia drivers are discussed in other threads, but i haven't seen this problem elsewhere (mind me if Im wrong, I haven't read 'em all...)
My problem: I have downloaded Nvidias graphics drivers(hopefully the right ones) and are about to install them. I use XTerm and type sh NVIDIA-blah-blah and they seem to be unpacked or whatever they should be when I get the message:

"./nvidia-installer: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.1.3´ not found (required by ./nvidia-installer)
./nvidia-installer: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.2´ not found (required by ./nvidia-installer)"

Since I know no Linux, I dont understand what its all about... Can somebody please explain my problem and tell me what to do?
I use Mandrake 7.0

mandrake 7.0 is quite old so im assuming you do not have a recent enough version of glibc, you need to upgrade glibc, which will require upgrading many many other things, so your options are go through the nightmare fo just upgrading glibc which is hard for a new user, use an older version fo the nvidia drivers, or upgrade to a newer version of mandrake or some other distro

Ok, I'm considering to download Mandrake 9.1 anyway. Thanks.
