Installing Modem Drivers in Mandrake.
I've just installed Mandrake 9.1 onto my PC and it seems to be working fine. My problem is this... I've got an Intel 56K internal modem that I'd like to use. Mandrake seems to recognise it but I don't think it has the correct driver, as the modem is put under "Unknown devices" catagory. I've downloaded drivers for it and went through the installing procedure, logged in as root, but after typing "make install", "error: could not remove /dev/modem" comes up... and the modem still does not seem to work.
Does anyone have any ideas? Also, could anyone point me in the right direction as to setting up a dial up conneciton once I get the modem working? (by the way, when I click "query modem" on one of the dialogue boxes to do with the networking connections, it immediatly says "modem did not respond).
Thank you very much!
