Installing mod_jk in linux

I have a apace web server and tomcat running.I deployed a war file into tomcat it's running well but i want to connect tomcat to Apache so that the content in war folder should be available from web server port 80.I Googled and found a connector called mod_jk,i tried following many tutorials for installing and configuring this connector ,but it was very confusing and i failed in doing so several times.Hoping for a good and quick reply....thanks in advance.
details:
O.S: rhel 5
jdk ver:6
tomcat7
Apache 2.2.3
connector:mod_jk.so
