Installing Mandriva 2007

I downloaded Mandriva 2007.1 Alpha using the links from this site:

http://linux.softpedia.com/progDownl...load-3418.html

I downloaded the 4 CDs for the i86_64 versions. I then unrared the archives and burned them onto cd. Tried to boot from the cd when i rebooted and nothing happened. My bios is set up such that it will boot from my cd before my harddrive. Also, there was no autorun when reinserting the CD into my pc while windows was loaded.

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, if there is a step I'm missing, if i need to move a file somewhere...

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks.

Check the CD to be sure it has many different files. If there is just one ending in .iso, then you stepped in a common trap.**
Also, be sure that a known good CD will boot---eg a Windows install CD

**you have to use the "burn from iso" option (or equivalent)

Yes there are many files within a x86_64 folder and inside there 7 folders labeled as doc, dosutils, isolinux, instal, lang, media and misc. There are also other files.

Now what i did was i took everything within the x86_64 folder andburned it onto a cd. I have a feeling i shouldn't have done this, or should have maybe burned the disk some other way.

You're not supposed to extract the files in the iso, you need to burn it as an image. This depends on which burning application you're using.

Makes sense, I got confused because when I downloaded them they showed up as archives.
