Installing Linux onto a formatted Windows HD

I've just formatted the HD of the comp that I'll be installing Linux onto using a Windows98 startup disk. I've never wiped a HD and installed an OS onto said wiped HD before, so I was just wondering if it will, well, work. Thanks in advance for any answers or advice. I'm stumbling into a bit of new teritory here.

If your just going to be using Linux, you will need to format the HDD to a UNIX file system format. If you are doing the install off of a CD, just set your BIOS to boot from CD and off you go, it is pretty straight forward from there.

Most Linux OS's these days come with a GUI install (ie: Red Hat) so it's pretty much read, point and click.

yeah, and remember that it's not a "windows hard drive" Never was, never will be.
